It may be stretching it to categorize this photo of three jellies as “wildlife” since I actually took the photo at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. But this is my disclaimer, so I’m calling it good. They were too gorgeous to resist, and while the lighting made photography extremely difficult I had to try. After all, how often am I likely to see jellies like this in the wild? Answer: A few days later in the bay near the Santa Cruz boardwalk. The good news was that I was on the pier, far above the floating jelly, and the beautiful creature was far from the beach. Bad news? Although I had my camera with me, the lighting and angle were absolutely wrong for a good shot. So these lovelies will have to do.

Wow, this almost doesn’t look real…really great capture.

FANTASTIC! They almost look like parachutes in the sky.

Great shot! I have a few jellyfish shots from my trip to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium – check out http://www.spencerkellis.net/gallery.php?tag=jellyfish. Monterrey and the surrounding area is one of my favorite places to visit. Everything is just so beautiful! It’s also one of the first places I went after I got a D70 – my very first DSLR.

- Gorgeous photos (It’s so hard to do this bcasuee of the aquarium walls).I took some similar (but not nearly as good) photos years ago at the Monterey Bay aquarium. Whenever I look at them, they make me think how other wordly these creatures are. They are so pretty but they seem like something that should come from another planet!
