Cedar Breaks National Monument – Sepia

Another angle on Cedar Breaks National Monument, this one in sepia. I loved the colors in the monument – especially during sunset – but monochrome photos tend to bring out the layers and textures in canyons like this. See examples of the color here and here.

  3. Love the texture and detail in the rock strata. Somehow more ‘pronounced’ in the sepia processing. Lovely image..wonderful scene!!!

  4. this is a great shot, so many layers and textures, i did have to go to the coloured version to see what it was tho, but the black and white IS beautiful:)

  5. In colour the layers are absolutely stunning, and in mono (sepia), they are equally so but have such a depth and power, a real drama that is more intense as the distraction of colour is removed. That sounds crazy doesn’t it, but you know what I mean.

An awesome frame that really captures the magnificence of this stunning location. First class photography, Caryn and a pleasure to view.

  10. The color version is very attractive in a natural sense, but agree with you that the BW shows other features better. Fine shot.
