"Lily Seed Pod" by Caryn Caldwell

Our day lilies have gone to seed, their pods opening gracefully to reveal what could become next year’s blooms.

  1. i really like the creamy look of this one, nicely shot! :)

    • @rian, Thanks! That's exactly what I was going for – a nice, creamy light.

  2. Beautifully done, Caryn.

  3. Neat shot Caryn!

    • @Phillip Burrow, Thanks! I've admired the day lily seed pods for a while, but it's the first time I ever actually photographed them. It was time to give them a try.

  4. Your DOF is great Caryn

    • @Chantal, Thanks! I was afraid there'd be too much distracting stuff in the background if I didn't use my macro lens for this one.

  5. Perfect focus! By showing such a small portion of the object it also has something abstract.

    • @Arjan -PlasticDaisy, I had some with a little bigger depth of field, but I liked the abstractness you mentioned, and also enjoyed how the limited focus brought out the graceful shape of the pod. At least, that's what I was aiming for.
