I couldn’t resist taking this shot of our friend’s daughter a few weeks ago. Despite looking bereft, she and Sunshine were actually having a terrific time playing in this soft, sandy spot out in the desert.

Datura in Blue

Datura, a.k.a. moonflower. Found in a canyon along the San Juan River shortly after a rain storm. Behind it is an ancient Anasazi ruin (not visible). I usually do monochrome treatments with a sepia tone, so went for a more bluish tone here.

Not sure what type of flower this is, because I actually took this photo a while ago, but I’m going to go with thistle.
