Poised Basil

Basil the cat looks out on his domain – in this case, the quilt I made for our bed when I was pregnant with Sunshine.
Leaf Peeking Out

A leaf peeks out of the jumbled mess on the ground. Frost lines the edges, and the morning light has just begun to hit it.
Piled Leaves

Frost edges a pile of winter-brown leaves.
I have a little trouble finding inspiration when it is this cold out, hence a few pictures from my archives. However, the other morning as I walked past my bedroom window on some errand or another, I noticed the perfect slant of light just hitting the frost-touched leaves in our backyard. The urgency of my busy-ness forgotten, I pulled on my shoes and hat, grabbed my camera + macro lens, and spent the next half hour lying in the cold, damp grass, taking pictures. The above photo, as well as the one I’ll post on Thursday, is one of the results. I’m still playing around with a few others, and will eventually post more. In the meantime, I have a few hikes to conduct in the search for both inspiration and photos. I can’t wait!
Honeybee

A honeybee sips from a flower in the Colorado mountains between Silverton and Durango. One from the archives, obviously. I recently purchased textures for the first time, and have been playing around. This is one of my first experiments with them.
